Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) and Specialist Prosecutors’ Office (SPO)

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (KSC and SPO) were established by amendment to the Kosovo Constitution and adoption of the Law on the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutors Office by the Kosovo Assembly. The KSC and SPO are relocated to The Hague, Netherlands. It is a temporary institution that is funded by the European Union to fulfil a specific mandate related to crimes committed from 01 January 1998 – 31 December 2000. The Specialist Chambers are attached to each level of the court system in Kosovo – Basic Court, Court of Appeals, Supreme Court and Constitutional Court. They will function according to relevant Kosovo laws as well as customary international law and international human rights law.

An integral part of the KSC is its outreach programme which aims at increasing knowledge and awareness about the work of the Specialist Chambers and cultivate dialogue about it. Supported by a generous grant provided by the Swiss Government, the KSC fosters direct communication with Kosovo society through an information network reaching out to civil society, youth, legal professionals, media and others.

On The Hague International Open Day, you are welcome to visit the KSC premises at Raamweg to learn more about the court, its outreach programme, as well as its history and mandate. Join a short guided tour as we take you to see the KSC courtroom from the public gallery, the press conference room and the media center.
